Vector illustrations have the great advantage that they can be scaled as desired and without loss of quality. Therefore, the same illustration can be used for a postage stamp or for a large poster without fear that it will eventually look pixelated.

Vector illustrations are ideal for technical illustrations. They consist only of mathematical straight lines, curves and surfaces. Therefore, it is more difficult and expensive to make an illustration look "alive".
